Southeast Asia’s entertainment landscape continues to evolve as consumer expectations rise and destinations look for more engaging experiences. This trend is reflected across the wider Asia-Pacific region, where the immersive entertainment market is projected to expand rapidly through 2030, with a CAGR of 24.89%.
RH1 recently welcomed Antoine Lieutaud, CEO of Eclipso, to Ho Chi Minh City to discuss around immersive entertainment and its development in the region. Eclipso is known for developing and operating VR-based immersive experiences that combine storytelling, culture, and technology, with a strong presence across Europe and the United States.
The visit focused on defining how world-class immersive experiences could help elevate Southeast Asia’s rapidly growing entertainment market.

Capture Audience Engagement with Immersive VR Content
As part of the visit, Antoine Lieutaud joined RH1 team and local participants in a VR demonstration session.
The session offered a chance to observe how audiences interact with immersive VR storytelling in practice, particularly how quickly visitors engage with narrative-driven experiences and how these formats capture attention within a shared environment.
These observations helped inform discussions on how immersive storytelling could resonate with Vietnamese audiences, highlight the potential for immersive entertainment to further develop in the region. They also pointed to directions for how we can adapt world-class formats to Southeast Asian audience behaviors.
A Closer Look at Entertainment Offerings in Ho Chi Minh City
The visit also included site reviews across several major shopping malls in Ho Chi Minh City. Antoine and the RH1 team explored a range of location-based entertainment offerings, including arcades, family entertainment centers, VR attractions, children’s playgrounds, and exhibition experiences.
Discussions focused on how entertainment shapes mall dynamics - from influencing visitor traffic patterns and peak activity areas to contributing to the overall tenant mix, particularly the balance between F&B, retail, and leisure. The team also evaluates how each entertainment venue helps attract visitors and encourages longer stays within the environment.
These observations also highlighted areas where the current entertainment landscape could continue to evolve to strengthen the overall visitor experience.
The visit provided valuable insights into Vietnam’s current entertainment landscape. Through VR demonstrations and site visits across local venues, the team gained a clearer understanding of potential gaps within the market, particularly in how entertainment experiences can continue to adapt to evolving customer expectations for more experiential offerings. These discussions also highlighted how immersive attractions are expected to play an important role in the future of entertainment destinations.
